Arizona

My best friend Lindsey and cute little family have been living in Arizona for about two years. We have been telling them that we would come and visit for quiet awhile now. We finally found really cheap airline tickets and decided to book them. I am so glad that we did. We were able to enjoy the nice warm weather. It is sunny there every single day, no wind perfect temperate to be outside and enjoy the outdoors. We even got to enjoy some good old Mexican food right after we got in. The next day we started out with a hike that was just long enough with a toddler. It was called the hole in the rock and you could see the city of Phoenix. Macee wanted to get down and run around so we didn't stay for a long time, just long enough to enjoy the view before heading down. She is such an active little one and loves to run, never walks anywhere. Here are a few pictures from the hike.

We decided to go and check out a new outlet mall that had just opened that week to see if they had any good maternity clothes. Spencer chased Macee around most of the time and kept her entertained. They had a good time while we looked around at some of the stores. We didn't find a lot of clothes, but we found a couple that we could turn into maternity by buying a bigger size. Then we decided to try and go swimming. As you can see by the look on Macee's face it was still a little early in the season for that. She was so funny! She would run and jump in and get this look on her face like oh man that is really cold water. She would then climb out and try it all over again. We got in a little, but didn't stay long because it was too cold even though I  thought it would be okay.

We went back to the house and had a nice warm fire that night. We roasted some hot dogs and marshmallows and had fun talking about anything and everything. The next day was Conference Sunday so we decided to try and do a craft. Try being the key word. Lindsey found these cute blocks on Pinterest that she wanted to make our baby boys. I thought that I would be able to help a lot more than I did. It turns out I still have a lot I need to learn about sewing before I do a project on my own. I took over ironing the squares after she did the sewing. They actually turned out cute and were worth the time that we spent making them. The boys were ready for them to be done long before that actually happened. We had them in charge of making dinner. They got everything done by the time we were ready for a break.

We ended our trip we a quick lunch at Sonic before we had to fly home. It was so fun to see Ben, Lindsey, Macee, and their cute little home they just bought. We had such a fun time and hope to make it back soon. They are coming to Utah next weekend and we can't wait to see them again. Thanks for letting us stay and for showing us around your town guys! I will always remember this weekend as the weekend of poop! haha

Happy Anniversary!

Happy second anniversary to us! I feel like we always try to get away just far enough to celebrate, but not too far that we have to take time off work. This year we decided to stay downtown Salt Lake. We went to the Hogle Zoo. I love the zoo! I don't know when it started, but I just love seeing the animals and what they are doing. This year my favorite were the elephants. We found out that they are a family. It is a baby, mom, and grandma. It was just warm enough that they were playful, but not too hot that they just stood there.

Then we went and checked in at our hotel. We decided to stay at Hotel Monacco. It is small hotel so they were really helpful and willing to do anything for us. Plus the rooms were really nice. I felt like we were rich people just for one day. Plus it was close to everything downtown so we could walk everywhere that we needed to go.

After a little bit of shopping we ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. We only had to wait 15 minutes for our table. I want to say we just got lucky because everyone talks about how long the wait is there and how much they hate it. The food there was amazing and the cheesecake was even better! I would for sure go back again. It was nice to spend some time together and not worry about anything else. I can't believe it has already been two years. Time has flown by and I can't wait for the many adventures to come. I think most of all I can't wait  to see Spencer as a dad. I think he is so cute with kids and makes them so happy when he is around. Our kids are lucky to have such a great guy for a dad.

My amazing drink from dinner. Doesn't it just look so refreshing?

Happy Easter

My mom does an Easter egg hunt for the grand kids each year. We get the joy of hiding all the eggs for them to find. This year there was a gold egg and a silver egg that all the older kids were looking for, while all the younger kids cashed in on all the candy filled eggs. The older kids just wanted the money and didn't care about the rest. It was fun to watch everyone and help them find the harder eggs.

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. I think the biggest part that makes that so true is coloring Easter eggs. What is better than coming up with what you should do with your next egg to make it better than the one before it? We invited some friends over to join in on the fun with us (Missy and Jeff). We had a pretty hard time coloring them this year. I felt like everything I tried just didn't work. We still had a good time though and laughed a lot at our mistakes.

This one for sure won the coolest egg of the night contest!

Here is a cute baby bump picture. I need to take a new one soon. I feel like in the last week my bump just popped out.  I am over half way there and feeling great!

Are you for team blue or team pink?

I have been needing to update by blog, but just haven't found the time to do it lately. Now, I am here at work and Pinterest isn't working so I thought what a better time than now? I usually say that I am going to do it and then I get caught on some website that I found through Pinterest about babies. I feel like there is so much to learn and so little time left before the little one gets here. I don't know why, but I love reading what other people have to say about parenting and what has worked for them. I feel like I should be sick of it by now, but that just hasn't happened. On March 16 we had our gender reveal party and it turned out really well. We had a lot of family come that were so excited to see what we will be having in August. We had everyone take a cupcake and bite into it at the exact same time. We used blue chocolate chips so we they took a bite all they would see is blue and know that we are having a baby boy! It was fun to see everyone's reaction and what they thought.

Here is a copy of the invitation

Team Pink!

Team Blue! ( as you can see a lot of people guessed
boy or blue was the only color in their closet. haha)

Yes, these shoes do look pink. I didn't like any of the blue
shoes at the store we went to, and I wanted to be able
to use them after. They will look so cute on baby hafer.

We are both so excited and can't wait until August when we get to meet our sweet little boy.

Spencer's Birthday

I am trying to slowly catch up on my blog. Spencer's birthday was a couple of weeks ago and we had a great time! We went out to dinner at Zupas. (My new place that I have been craving all the time now. I think we have been there four times in the last two weeks. At least it is healthy right?) Then we did a craft that night. Spencer loves doing the ones when he has to pull out his tools. He asks for different tools every Christmas and this is probably the only time that we use them. Thanks to Pinterest we have craft ideas to do. We made a big picture frame for a engineer print that we had made at Staples. It ended up costing us under $20 and now we have a decoration for our closet. I will have to post pictures of the final product soon. We learn a lot if we decide to do it again.

Then on Sunday we got together with my family and his and had a big dinner at his mom's house. It was great seeing everyone and not having to go to so many places. We planned to perfect so we could have all the kids on one table and had a fun time catching up after not seeing each other for a month or so. Spencer even got his yearly pie from Marie Calendars. He always wants pie instead of cake and that is where his mom has always bought the pie.

Cole, my nephew, shares the same birthday with Spencer and Micheal Jordan. We met up with the Poppleton's on their way back from St. George and went to Olive Garden for dinner. They had to sit right next to each other and order the same meal. Cole always wants to be like his Uncle Spencer! I asked Spencer what he wanted for his birthday and he said I want to do something with Cole. He got his one wish that he wanted this year!

This is just a side note. We always go to one U of U gymnastics meet a year. I tell people it is the one time that I am Ute fan. We had such a great time with Catherine and Megan, plus it was Catherine's first time ever being at a gymnastics meet. We saw a girl get a perfect 10.0 on floor! I haven't ever seen that in my whole life and I have been to a lot of gymnastics meets.

Sledding- Old Main

A couple of weeks ago we headed up to Logan so that I could judge a tumbling meet at my old gym. I one thing that I wanted to do was go sledding. I have been wanting to go all year and just haven't found the time. After the meet we went to eat at Pizza Pie Cafe and then I went home with Heidi and Brian while Spencer went shooting with Taylor. I layed down and next thing I knew I woke up at 5 o'clock wondering why we hadn't gone sledding. I was not happy. We got everyone together and headed up in the freezing weather. I have never been real sledding on sleds before. Tubes are different and are easier to control. I kept going past Brian and over a jump onto the road. Luckily there were no cars coming. It was so fun! We were ready to go again. I was so happy after we went because I know that I won't be able to go in a few months! Here are a few pictures of the cold event.

This is how cold it really was!! We had to hold our breath to take a picture.

We're Having a BABY!!

We are having a baby! We are both so excited the new changes that will be happening in our lives. We will have one more member to share our fun, daily experiences with. The next question I always get is how did you find out, the better question is how did Spencer find out. I had missed my period for one day and went in the use the bathroom that next morning and decided to take a test. I sat there for what felt like three minutes and it was negative so I threw it away thinking that I would start my period later that day. I went out onto the couch and started reading my scriptures. All of a sudden Spencer came out of the bedroom and sat down on the couch and was like so.... I was like so..... He was like well I am going back to bed then. I thought it was a little weird, but didn't think much about it. I went in the bathroom when I was done reading and looked at the test again and this time it was positive. I looked at the instruction and it said do not look at the test after 10 minutes because there is a chance that it could be a false positive. After three more days of not starting my period I took another test. This time we bought the digital ones that either said pregnant or not pregnant. That is a lot less confusing, that's for sure. Those two lines just don't make sense. This time it was positive!! I went to tell Spencer and he told me that he already knew because the other test that I took was positive. I was like no it wasn't? He said you must not of waited long enough. When I looked at it the test had two lines. So funny! Who can say that their husband found out before they did? Not many I am sure.

We decided to tell our families on Christmas Eve and Christmas. It might be the only time that we would all be together to tell them at the same time. We made a cute thing that had pictures of our whole family for my mom that had a same note that said +1 coming in September. My mom looked at it first and was like oh....cute.... I think she thought it was Kira's baby without really thinking about the month that the baby would come. When she finally figured it out she pointed to Heidi and Brian because we had given her the gift together. Then they pointed to us. So funny!

Spencer's family was next.....Michelle had found out in the mist of her helping us make all the gifts. We gave them a birthday calendar that had an extra circle under September. She opened it and the timer went off for the cinnamon rolls and Scott left the room to get them out of the oven. Debbie kept turning the circle over to try and look for a name, but never said anything. Then she was finally like why is this one blank? Then I am sure by the look on our faces she figured it all out. We had back up gifts just in case they never got it. It is crazy how much our moms are alike. They both took for what seems like forever to figure it out.

Since telling our families we figured out that we are actually due August 22. I didn't know what I was doing when I figured everything out.

Here I am at nine weeks. You can't really see much, but I have just a little baby bump.
