The Best Year of Our Lives (well so far...)

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past weekend. We are babysitting Spencer's cousins this week so it was the best time that we could find to spend some time together and get away. Spencer planned most of it and tried to keep it a secret but, told his mom about it when we were both sitting in the car one night. I have been wanting to go tubing in Park City for so long! I see it every time we pass it on the freeway and it always looks like so much fun. On top of all of that we haven't had any snow in Salt Lake to go tubing and I love the rush that comes from going down a really big hill. This was great because there was a conveyor belt that took you to the top so we didn't  even get tired. No work and all fun!

Then we headed to our hotel to check in and get settled before our massages. We stayed at Park City Peaks. We each had a 30 minute massage and loved it. I didn't think Spencer would because his back is so crazy but he liked it. The lady that came was originally from Ireland. We had a fun time talking the whole time. She has traveled all over with her job because everyone needs massages it is a perfect job to have if you are going to do that. She tours the country and then leaves. After we were done we got ready and went to dinner. We decided to play it safe and went somewhere that we knew was good. Bandit's is a place that we went a few years ago on one of our summer trips to Park City. They have amazing bbq! I hadn't had ribs in a long time because they are usually expensive. We decided it was a special occasion that doesn't happen very often so we splurged and had an amazing dinner. Spencer had a tri-tip sandwich and we both shared some nachos before our meals came.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel and I started to feel really sick. I had felt it coming on for a couple days and it was finally hitting. I sat down and didn't get up the rest of the night. Spencer was so patient and just watched TV and got me some medicine to help me sleep. It is times like these that remind you that you really have been married a year. Thanks babe for all that you do, you're the best husband a girl could ask for.

Oh Whitney...

So Whitney and I live in the same state and we were only seeing each other about once every four months or so when our other friends came into town. We decided to change that. We made a goal of at least once a month but it didn't work out last month so we made sure it happened this month. Whitney went to school and became a certified esthetician. She told me last time that we saw each other that I should start waxing my nose. It was kind of a funny thing to say but if you know Whitney then you know that is just how she is. She will be the first one to tell you when you have something on your face that isn't supposed to be there. I hate when you have something on you and you get home and notice that it was on there all day and no one said anything to you. Anyway, Spencer had this crazy idea that he wanted to wax his nose. I texted her and she brought down everything that she needed. I wasn't so sure that I wanted to try it though. Spencer went first and told me that it didn't hurt at all. I decided to give it a try because I have problems with boogers hanging out my nose a lot and this would make it so they are up higher. haha. It actually didn't hurt at all! You should all try it, I can really breath so much better now and I don't have to worry about boogers as much. Here are some funny picutes from the event.

Then we headed to the bowling alley to meet up with my friends. There was a really long wait so we decided to get something to eat instead. We took a little detour along the way so Whitney could see my gym. Then we went to a pizza place in Holladay called Fuchs. It had fun talking and writing on the table. We tried a pesto pizza, it was okay but it was just part of the experience.

After dinner we headed back to our place to play some ping pong and pool. Whitney and I just planned our trip to Europe and when she was going to be there with us. I'm so excited to go and talking about it just makes it even more exciting. Spencer had to entertain and we joined in after we were all done planning.

Spencer's Birthday

Happy 23rd Birthday Spencer! Can you believe how old he is getting? I love him so much! We got to see a lot family and he got a lot of sweet presents. The best one would have to be the new camera that we are going to take to Germany with us. It takes such good pictures and it took us almost two hours to find the exact one that we wanted.  Then he also got a tool bag, games, price is right for the xbox, golf balls, and some new shirts. We had dinner with Spencer's family on Sunday and had fun just sitting and talking with a little bit of ping pong.  I woke up early on Friday and decorated the family room. I had two dozen balloons that I had gotten from his mom the day before. I had no idea how loud balloons are! I hid them upstairs in one of his grandparents room and went and got them in the morning, so sneaky. I tried to be as quiet as I could, but still tried to hurry so I could get to work on time. This is probably the earliest I have ever woken up to have extra time, it was 3:50am when I got out of bed. Spencer woke up when I went to tell him goodbye and all he could think about was the fact that we needed to flip our mattress. If we would have done that he would have saw the surprise, good thing I convinced him we would do it later. We spent the rest of the day, after I got off work, together. He wanted to keep everything simple so we made grilled cheese for lunch and tested out the new price is right game. We both love it and haven't stopped playing it since we got it. Then it was off to my parent's house for pizza and games. We had a fun time playing with the new camera, figuring out all the settings.  If you are wondering why there are so many pictures this is why.
Everyone chilling and eating pizza

Grant and Avery think it is so funny to put the little cars inside of this birdhouse.
Spencer is trying to get them all out.

Birthday Cake

Okay these last two need some explaining. We have a setting that waits until you smile to take a picture. They turned out really funny and I couldn't stop laughing about them so I decided they have to go on the blog.
After we messed around with the camera for awhile we decided it was time to play a game. We played Spencer's new game call Rollick. It is the opposite of gestures, everyone acts out the card except for the one person that is guessing. It gets pretty funny when you are doing all that you can to help the person guess. We had a fun time hanging out with family and relaxing. Then Spencer and Mike usually have a race on the way home, but this time it got crazy! Mike got a late start and took the back streets to get in front of us, Spencer ran a red light, and we almost died. It came down to the last stretch  before they had to get off the freeway where we were going 100 mph and Mike won the race. I said that we both won because no one died and we didn't get a ticket. What an interesting night.

You Belong

Teaching tumbling has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of different kids with a lot of different backgrounds. The reason they are all different is because of the different things they have had to go through. Some are weaker, some are stronger. Some how we all grow up and go our separate way trying to find our way on this crazy world (that gets more crazy every day). Then I found this quote and it says it a lot better than I ever could.

IT IS REALLY HAPPENING!

We are definitely going to Europe this summer! More importantly we are going to Germany this summer! I didn't know if I was ever going to get back when I left in June 2010 but it is really happening. We are both so excited to visit the friends that we met while serving our missions there. It took forever to book our flight because we wanted to get the best deal possible. I am so excited and can't wait until June 7th when we are on that airplane flying over the ocean. Let's just say we have a lot of planning to do between now and then. I was looking up stuff today about Frankfurt and came across this picture, oh how I love this city.

Valentine's Day

It seems like everyone has a strong opinion about Valentine's Day, for me it is a good excuse to go on a date with Spencer. We had to celebrate on Monday night because I had to teach on Tuesday. This was probably a good idea though, everything is always packed on Valentine's Day. Spencer has been planning our anniversary weekend so I decided that I would plan our date. First we decided to open presents. It has been hard to shop for his birthday, anniversary, and valentine's day. I guess I will be doing it every year so I should get used to it. haha. I ended up getting him a wallet and a belt (more just things that he has been needing) and I got a cute glass decoration that has the month of March and it say the day I said I do (Spencer was a little more thoughtful) with a personally made card. Then we went to Applebee's. It was fun just to sit and talk. I feel like we don't have as much time to do this anymore. We have very opposite schedules and are home at different times during the day.

Then we went and saw The Vow. Everyone should go and see this. Such a cute story and it reminds me a lot of the Notebook and I love that show. It really is as good as the commercials make it out to be, which we all know isn't always true.

Here are a couple of pictures from the fun night:

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Hope you had a great day!

Eleven Things

Kira, my sister-in-law recently tagged me to do this post. I figured it would give me something to do while I was at work this morning. I'm usually not very good at these things but here it goes.
1. If your name wasn't what it is, what would you want it to be?
I've never really thought about this before, but off the top of my head I would have to say Junie Ann. I had to include the middle name because that is what I really care about. I've never had a middle name, and two of my friends growing up had the middle name Ann so my name became Jan Ann when they wanted to make it longer. Junie is a cute girl's name that belongs  to a girl I teach in nursery right now. It is June spelled the Germany way with an e on the end. Plus it sounds really good with Ann.

2. What is your most embarrassing moment?
I never have a good one for this question. On my first day in Germany it was really cold and  I was trying to put on some thicker tights. In the process I forgot that I still had a short slip on. These are the kind that are actually shorts, which make it easier to ride a bike, but not so easy to put on tights. I had to take everything off and start all over. I had only been with my trainer for 10 minutes I am sure she was like what am I going to do with this girl?

3. What are 2-3 things on your bucket list?
1. Have four kids (well I guess have three and adopt one).
2. Go to Germany and see all the people that  I love and miss.
3. Help Spencer graduate school. This will be the best day of my life when this happens.

4. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Aggie Blue Mint!

5. If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would have to say Joseph Smith. I came to really know him when I was on my mission and I love his story. He was so strong and did so much for the church.

6. What is a good book you have recently read?
Well I don't like reading books. I will have to read one soon. Maybe this should be on my bucket list.

7. What is your favorite scripture?
Alma 26:12

8. What is your happiest childhood memory?
I don't remember much from my childhood for some reason. I would say the happiest memory is eating peanut butter on a spoon with my mom after everyone went to school. It was our little treat.

9. What is your favorite restaurant?
This is an easy one, Texas Roadhouse!

10. What is your favorite time of the day?
I would say around 7 at night. This is when Spencer and I are both home eating dinner and most likely watching the Bachelor, Biggest Loser, or the game show network.

11. If you could live anywhere else, where would it be?
Somewhere warm. I would have to say St. George because it is still pretty close to family. Another plus is I would also live closer to Lindsey so we could see each other more.

I tag the following people:

Kellie T.

Lindsey H.

Lindsey S,

Heidi A.

and whoever else wants to.... ( I honestly think these are the only people that read my blog)

Here are my questions:
1. What is your favorite color and why?

2. Your favorite date idea or the best date you have ever been on?

3. What would you do if you had 10 spare minutes?

4. What is your favorite childhood memory?

5. What is your favorite movie?

6. Name 2-3 things on your bucket list.

7. What is your favorite shape and why? I know this sounds weird but it says a lot about your personality.

8. What is your most embarrassing moment?

9. What is your favorite restaurant?

10. What are your favorite gifts that you have given and received?

11. What is your favorite candy bar?

Enjoy!

"Go Our Team"

My family loves the Super Bowl! We have been having a super bowl party for the past 11 years. (My parents have been married for 11 years and we started the tradition then. Dean makes an amazing cheese dip and for some reason that is what I remember the most from all the year. Not who won or lost but the amazing cheese dip.) This year we celebrated Dean's birthday and the game together. Grant wanted to help him blow out the candles. Happy 64th birthday Dad! Hope you had a great day! We brought him a gift with Brian and Heidi this year. We got him a date night to the Jazz game on March 12 and a candy gram. Thanks Heidi for putting everything together, it all turned out really cute.

It was fun to all get together and talk while watching a good game and eating a lot of food. I personally didn't think the commercials were very good this year so it's good thing the game was good. That isn't always true. Here are all the Patriots fans: (the losing team)
And all the Giants fans: (the winning team)

Here is Spencer in his 49ers gear as promised. I think he missed the memo that they lost a couple weeks ago and didn't make it to the Super Bowl. I got cold and ended up wearing his hoodie so we both looked funny cheering for the Giants while wearing clothes that said 49ers. It turned out to be lucky though because they ended up winning! Go our team, go!
