When do we get to sleep?

As most of you know the weekend is my time to sleep, but not this weekend. We had a lot of fun doing service and hanging out with family. Spencer's grandpa went to the hospital on Wednesday because he couldn't breathe. We didn't think that they would check him straight in because it was so serious. He had blood in his lungs that was preventing him from breathing well. The problem started at his heart where there were five arteries that were working at 20 percent or less. They told him that they were going to do open heart surgery on Monday, but he would have to stay at the hospital until then because he was at such a high risk for a heart attack. This just gave him more time to think about it. We all had a fun time laughing at his jokes, it turns out that he can be really funny when he is on a lot of drugs. The best part was when they told the family that he is going to have more energy now. Everyone looked at  each other and said NO! He already has enough to drive grandma crazy. I am sure the nurses and doctor were like what is wrong with this family. We are happy that he will be healthier though. We did a family fast on Sunday for him and all came together at the hospital to give him a blessing. Everything went well with the surgery, he is now recovering and will be for the next few months. Debbie, Spencer's mom, also got surgery on her nose on Monday. It has been crazy trying to visit everyone and have time for our normal lives. We are glad that everyone is healthy and doing good.

On Friday night we met Heidi at Crown Burger before the Blaze game to get a quick bite to eat. Plus, it gave us a place to park since everything was closed downtown for the Salt Lake Marathon the next day. The Blaze won this time! It was such a good game with the score going back and forth a lot.

Then the next day we woke up at 4:30am to go and help with the Marathon. Planet Fitness signed up to do a water station. They needed 20 volunteers so we all came and helped out. Spencer was not very awake and it is the first time I have ever seen him up at this time and it will probably be the last. He was not too happy. The only incentive that he had was his Dr. Pepper that Tanya had promised him. We had a good time though. Those runners are crazy! They would zoom by spilling half of the water in the cup and then throw their cups by the garbage cans, missing most of the time. haha. It made me want to run a half marathon someday. As long as I had a running buddy I think I would be able to do it.

Then we went home and took a short nap that was much needed. We planned on going on a hike up Big Cottonwood Canyon, but there was still a little too much snow when we got up there. We enjoyed the ride and plan on doing it a little later in the year. We stopped and look a picture along the road and I was a little more excited than everyone else. I made them take a second picture and show more excitment. Thanks for coming to Salt Lake guys! We had a lot of fun.

Ramdom Post

I am finally figuring out how to use my new phone. I love Instragram! It is probably my favorite app that I have have so far. It is fun to make my pictures and it is like facebook without all the annoying comments about people's life that you would rather not know anyway. Here are some of the latest pictures I have done. The one that is above is a picture of dash, this is the dog that we took care of for a week when Spencer's cousins went out of town. Such a sweet dog and definitely has his own personality!

Then Spencer went snowboarding with Michelle and Jason at Snowbird. They had a lot of time enjoying the snow for the last time this season (well lets hope that the snow starts to melt soon so we can go hiking again).

The best news of the day is that we only have 50 more days until we leave for Europe!! Only 36 more days of waking up early for work, then I will have a normal job where I don't have to take naps like a little kid because I am so tired by 12 o'clock. As you can see I am getting very excited.

It is Offical

I am going to be a new manager for Planet Fitness starting in July! (This is when we get back from our Europe trip so I didn't want to start before then.) This will be the first full time position that I have ever had. I will get paid time off  (I have never known what that is before now), insurance, and have a little more say of when I want to work. I am super excited for something new and having regular hours. No more waking up at four in the mornings to get to work! Plus on top of that I will still be doing my tumbling gym. I am in the process of moving locations. It will be like one minute from my house which will be really nice with my new busy schedule.  Go Planet Fitness!!  You just gotta love the sweet big yellow thumb.

Happy Easter

We didn't do a ton this year for Easter. We had some friends come down from Logan and had a fun time going to see the new City Creek Center. We went shopping for six hours. I think that is the longest Spencer has ever lasted. They have some really cool stores that kept him from getting bored. By this point we were really hungry and decided to eat at Blue Lemon. We all really liked the food there and would recommend it to anyone.

I just got a new app on my phone for Instagram and
I love it! Look how cool it looks?

After eating we headed home to color Easter eggs. For some reason I love coloring eggs every year. Sorry if there are a lot of pictures. It is just fun to pose with eggs by your face, but only when they are different colors. haha.

We woke up early the next morning and ate a good Easter breakfast. We had eggs, pancakes, and bacon. We got done just in time to get ready for church. I love going to church on holidays because it helps you remember the true meaning. We had two great speakers in sacrament that outlined the life of Christ up until the resurrection. I am so grateful for my Savior and the sacrifice that me made for me. It is only through him that we can return to the father. After church we went to Spencer's parent's house for dinner. It was good to see them again because they were gone on a trip for a week and a half.  Happy Easter everyone!

Doughnut Falls

This past weekend we went on our first hike up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Megan is Kellie's (my best friend) sister. Her husband has been doing a lot of work on my car to get it to the point where it is going to last us awhile. It now has 166,000 miles and is still going strong. They say that Honda Civics will go until around 350,000 miles so I guess we will see. Anyway, we took the car to him on Tuesday and they drove it back to Salt Lake on Thursday so we could all go on a hike together. It was still a little cold, but that didn't stop us from having a good time! We picked an easier trail that we knew wouldn't take a lot of time because we didn't leave until four. The hike was called Doughnut Hole Falls. We walked in snow the whole way up! I tried to get some sweet pictures, but they never seem to do it justice of what it really looked like. I can actually say that my first "winter hike" was an exciting experience and I enjoyed it.

to use the self timer on our camera so we set it on the
smile detection setting. This is Spencer going to see if we got anything.

pretty much slept the whole way.

After we got done hiking we headed back to our house. We just sat around and talked while we ate some pizza for dinner. We always have such a fun time together and could probably talk for hours. Thanks Megan and Josh for coming up to visit!

Conference Weekend

I love General Conference weekend. There is always so much going on and so many people to see. On top of all that you still have like 10 hours of church to watch. The best part is that you get to stay home and just relax. It was a much needed Sunday for me where I could just sit and not have to do anything. I loved every minute of it. We had Spencer's mission reunion on Friday night where we met up with some ward members that we will be staying with this summer when we visit Germany. They seem so sweet and fun so it made me even more excited to go. We left a little early to hang out with Spencer's trainer and his wife plus a lot of people we didn't know. We all just sat and talked for a few hours and then headed home. Matt (Spencer's trainer) and Selina stayed the night with us so they didn't have to drive all the way back to Logan from Orem. We stayed up eating pizza and playing pool. They are so fun to hang out with and we just end up laughing at each other the whole time. I love it! We have had two late weekends in a row. Last week we had Jason, Christina, Brian, and Heidi stay the night and were up until 3:30am. Yes, that is really late for me. We decided that we were going to stay up like we were in high school again. I didn't expect it to be that late though. Then we stayed up until 2:00am this weekend. I don't think I can do this much longer.

We woke up and watched conference the next morning. After hearing the good word we went to get some lunch at a Chinese place in Holladay called Mountain City. Brian and Heidi met up with us after he got off work. There is a funny lady that works there that tells you exactly how she feels, even if it is her first time meeting you. We asked her to take a picture for us but she had the camera facing the wrong way. Hence the picture that follows. We all couldn't stop laughing!

Then after saying goodbye to everyone, Spencer and I went and played our first game of golfing this year. It was really windy, but pretty and sunny. We both didn't do so great, but we will get better as the year goes on. I still feel like I did better than last year. I think I only lost two balls? That is really good for me! We are planning on going at least five times this year so we will see what happens. I really like the new clubs I got for Christmas though. It is helping me improve my game, one step at a time.

We got home just in time for Spencer to go to Priesthood Session with his uncles and brother that were left in town. I headed downtown with Heidi to see the new City Creek Center. It was packed! We should have known that it was going to be. The women all went shopping while the men were gone. We just looked around at the crazy new neon, 80s style. I think that I like some of the things, but haven't quiet decided what to think about it yet. I do want one pair of colored skinny jeans. They will have to wait until I get paid again. Anyone want to go shopping before I go to Europe? I want to be able to fit in awhile I am there and not stick out like a sore thumb. Then we headed back to the Blaze game. Brian is doing an internship with them and gets two season tickets for the whole year. Heidi decided to take me with her this time. Our section was the one chosen for free popcorn. When I say free popcorn I mean it fell from the ceiling and got all over us and in our hair. It looked so cool coming down though, it was worth the mess if you ask me. We were so cool (because we knew Brian of course), we even got to go down on the floor and meet all of the people that he works with. They were all so nice and willing to show us around. This is a picture of Brian hard at work.

This is us being the cool people! I finally got a picture with Torch. I have been a Blaze fan since I can remember and would always beg people to take me to games. I always see him and think it is a little kid thing to get a picture with him. I always told myself once I have kids it won't be so weird and I can ask for a picture. Being a cool person, I decided to stop caring and just ask for one. It was like a dream come true! It may sound really cheesy, but it was was for me. Thanks Brian for helping me become a cool person just like you!

Spencer was visiting his mission friends downtown when the game was over. He waited a little bit longer so that he could give us a ride to our cars. Then we headed to McDonald's for some dinner and ice cream. Yes it was almost 12 o'clock at this time but we still hadn't eaten dinner and I love McDonald's. We came home and talked about our night while eating our dinner in bed. What a perfect finish to such a busy day.
