Are you for team blue or team pink?

I have been needing to update by blog, but just haven't found the time to do it lately. Now, I am here at work and Pinterest isn't working so I thought what a better time than now? I usually say that I am going to do it and then I get caught on some website that I found through Pinterest about babies. I feel like there is so much to learn and so little time left before the little one gets here. I don't know why, but I love reading what other people have to say about parenting and what has worked for them. I feel like I should be sick of it by now, but that just hasn't happened. On March 16 we had our gender reveal party and it turned out really well. We had a lot of family come that were so excited to see what we will be having in August. We had everyone take a cupcake and bite into it at the exact same time. We used blue chocolate chips so we they took a bite all they would see is blue and know that we are having a baby boy! It was fun to see everyone's reaction and what they thought.

Here is a copy of the invitation

Team Pink!

Team Blue! ( as you can see a lot of people guessed
boy or blue was the only color in their closet. haha)

Yes, these shoes do look pink. I didn't like any of the blue
shoes at the store we went to, and I wanted to be able
to use them after. They will look so cute on baby hafer.

We are both so excited and can't wait until August when we get to meet our sweet little boy.

Spencer's Birthday

I am trying to slowly catch up on my blog. Spencer's birthday was a couple of weeks ago and we had a great time! We went out to dinner at Zupas. (My new place that I have been craving all the time now. I think we have been there four times in the last two weeks. At least it is healthy right?) Then we did a craft that night. Spencer loves doing the ones when he has to pull out his tools. He asks for different tools every Christmas and this is probably the only time that we use them. Thanks to Pinterest we have craft ideas to do. We made a big picture frame for a engineer print that we had made at Staples. It ended up costing us under $20 and now we have a decoration for our closet. I will have to post pictures of the final product soon. We learn a lot if we decide to do it again.

Then on Sunday we got together with my family and his and had a big dinner at his mom's house. It was great seeing everyone and not having to go to so many places. We planned to perfect so we could have all the kids on one table and had a fun time catching up after not seeing each other for a month or so. Spencer even got his yearly pie from Marie Calendars. He always wants pie instead of cake and that is where his mom has always bought the pie.

Cole, my nephew, shares the same birthday with Spencer and Micheal Jordan. We met up with the Poppleton's on their way back from St. George and went to Olive Garden for dinner. They had to sit right next to each other and order the same meal. Cole always wants to be like his Uncle Spencer! I asked Spencer what he wanted for his birthday and he said I want to do something with Cole. He got his one wish that he wanted this year!

This is just a side note. We always go to one U of U gymnastics meet a year. I tell people it is the one time that I am Ute fan. We had such a great time with Catherine and Megan, plus it was Catherine's first time ever being at a gymnastics meet. We saw a girl get a perfect 10.0 on floor! I haven't ever seen that in my whole life and I have been to a lot of gymnastics meets.

Sledding- Old Main

A couple of weeks ago we headed up to Logan so that I could judge a tumbling meet at my old gym. I one thing that I wanted to do was go sledding. I have been wanting to go all year and just haven't found the time. After the meet we went to eat at Pizza Pie Cafe and then I went home with Heidi and Brian while Spencer went shooting with Taylor. I layed down and next thing I knew I woke up at 5 o'clock wondering why we hadn't gone sledding. I was not happy. We got everyone together and headed up in the freezing weather. I have never been real sledding on sleds before. Tubes are different and are easier to control. I kept going past Brian and over a jump onto the road. Luckily there were no cars coming. It was so fun! We were ready to go again. I was so happy after we went because I know that I won't be able to go in a few months! Here are a few pictures of the cold event.

This is how cold it really was!! We had to hold our breath to take a picture.

We're Having a BABY!!

We are having a baby! We are both so excited the new changes that will be happening in our lives. We will have one more member to share our fun, daily experiences with. The next question I always get is how did you find out, the better question is how did Spencer find out. I had missed my period for one day and went in the use the bathroom that next morning and decided to take a test. I sat there for what felt like three minutes and it was negative so I threw it away thinking that I would start my period later that day. I went out onto the couch and started reading my scriptures. All of a sudden Spencer came out of the bedroom and sat down on the couch and was like so.... I was like so..... He was like well I am going back to bed then. I thought it was a little weird, but didn't think much about it. I went in the bathroom when I was done reading and looked at the test again and this time it was positive. I looked at the instruction and it said do not look at the test after 10 minutes because there is a chance that it could be a false positive. After three more days of not starting my period I took another test. This time we bought the digital ones that either said pregnant or not pregnant. That is a lot less confusing, that's for sure. Those two lines just don't make sense. This time it was positive!! I went to tell Spencer and he told me that he already knew because the other test that I took was positive. I was like no it wasn't? He said you must not of waited long enough. When I looked at it the test had two lines. So funny! Who can say that their husband found out before they did? Not many I am sure.

We decided to tell our families on Christmas Eve and Christmas. It might be the only time that we would all be together to tell them at the same time. We made a cute thing that had pictures of our whole family for my mom that had a same note that said +1 coming in September. My mom looked at it first and was like oh....cute.... I think she thought it was Kira's baby without really thinking about the month that the baby would come. When she finally figured it out she pointed to Heidi and Brian because we had given her the gift together. Then they pointed to us. So funny!

Spencer's family was next.....Michelle had found out in the mist of her helping us make all the gifts. We gave them a birthday calendar that had an extra circle under September. She opened it and the timer went off for the cinnamon rolls and Scott left the room to get them out of the oven. Debbie kept turning the circle over to try and look for a name, but never said anything. Then she was finally like why is this one blank? Then I am sure by the look on our faces she figured it all out. We had back up gifts just in case they never got it. It is crazy how much our moms are alike. They both took for what seems like forever to figure it out.

Since telling our families we figured out that we are actually due August 22. I didn't know what I was doing when I figured everything out.

Here I am at nine weeks. You can't really see much, but I have just a little baby bump.

Happy New Years!

Last year was by far the worst New Years Eve ever! I was so excited for this year because we actually had a plan. We started by going to the church with all the cousins to play games. Then it was off to bowling at Bonwood. I love bowling, as if I don't talk about that enough. I beat Spencer for the first time in a long time. It was a good night, but of course I had to mess up the last frame and fell just short of 200. I feel like it is great new tradition that we started. It is a great way to get everyone together and have a good time.

Then we went back to the house and had some treats. I took a little nap to get enough energy to make it through the night. The best part of the night was the caramel fondue. After a couple of games we shot off some fireworks to welcome in the new year. Welcome 2013, we are ready for a fresh new start!

The Girls

This is the last time the "four of us" will be together for a long time! We all have a lot going on right now and all the girls won't be back to Utah for awhile. Whit is getting so excited to go on her mission and we can't be happier for her. The mission is an amazing experience and I know that she is going to help so many people find the gospel of Jesus Christ. After Kell has her baby she won't be working, which means less money to spend coming to Utah. I am excited for all the changes, but not for not seeing each other as much. We had a lot of fun hanging out this trip. Kellie and Andy came down on Thursday and I took the day off work. We went to lunch at Cafe Rio and went shopping for her baby shower gift. Then we came back to our house and talked for awhile, played some games, and ate pizza. Then everyone came on Friday and we ate dinner at The Pizza Factory and went bowling. I love bowling and the other girls weren't as excited so I got to bowl four games all together, while they only played two. It was great to catch up on what has been going on in all of our lives. I swear no matter how much be text and talk we still can't know everything living in other states. Here are a few pictures from the night.

Then on Saturday we had Kell's baby shower. The best part was when my mom, her sister-in-law, and whit gave her all the same outfit in different sizes. She opened the first one and it was 3-6 months, the second was 6-9 months, then she opened Whit's and we all started laughing it was 9-12 months. Great minds must think alike. This is Kell's reaction as she opened the same outfit for the third time. Classic. They got a lot of cute stuff for cute baby Logan.

I love these girls and feel so lucky to have such great friends. They truly are my sisters and have been there for me through the good and bad times in my life. I can honestly say I don't know where I would be today without them. Probably wearing shorts to my freckle, socks with sandals, and bunny shirts. Together we can do anything!

Our Christmas Traditions

I finally found some time to write about Christmas. It is one of my favorite times of the year. Everything gets so busy and it is so crazy to go anywhere. That is the one thing that makes me not like it so much. I love the fact that I get to see so many people and celebrate. I mean who doesn't like to party? We started out our holidays by going to the Festival of Trees. It is so fun to see all the stories of the different kids and see that they are getting help with their medical bills. We had a big group of people this year so it was also fun to talk to everyone and see what they had planned for the holidays.

I love this one. Who would think to turn a tree upside down and cover it
to look like an ice cream cone?

Go Aggies!
Probably my favorite part is looking at the gingerbread houses. They are always so creative. This is what my potty would look like. I am sure Spencer could built one like this.

The Whole Group

Another one of our favorite things to do is making chocolates with my family. The boys always come and watch sports downstairs while we work making them chocolates. We made some awesome flavors this year, I still think vanilla is my favorite. The best part about making chocolates is getting chocolate on everyone else's hands. It is part of the experience right?

Okay temple square is always freezing, but not this year.We started out the night by going to Blue Lemon with Mike and Kira. They had never been and I love it so they had to at least try it. Then we headed to temple square. I just don't think it feels like Christmas without going to see the lights. I love the feeling of temple square and seeing all the different lights.

My favorite thing is looking for the bag that says Merry Christmas in German.

Next, decorating the Christmas tree. We had a hard time deciding if we should buy a Christmas tree our first year that we were married or not. I am so glad that we did. It just isn't Christmas without a tree. We went to every store to find just the right one. It is perfect and I love everything about it.

Our advent wreath. This is a big tradition in Germany and we brought it back to Utah. There are four Sundays for Christmas and every week we light a new candle. This year we focused on helping others around us. We did everything from reading scriptures about Christ serving others to making gifts for family and friends. It helped us focus on the real meaning of Christmas this year when it is so easy to only think about gifts and Santa.

Every Christmas Eve we go to my parent's house. We start out with a turkey dinner where we sit and talk for a long time. Then it is time for gifts. My favorite gift this year would have to be our new popcorn maker. It is so cute and I can't wait to use it. This is the one time that we all get a picture together.

Before....
and after.....Then we go to Spencer's parents for Christmas day. My favorite gift this year from them would have to be my Kitchen Aid. I am getting my kitchen ready for anything. I love making new receipts on Pinterest and now I can make whatever I want. I think I might even try making home made bread. I love the smell and know that it is so much better for you. We also got to talk to Spencer's brother that is on a mission. He is just like Spencer and doesn't really say much. I can't wait for him (Trevor) to get home so we can actually hear all his crazy stories.

Spencer loves playing with the new helicopter that he got from Santa. All the brothers got the same one and love flying them all at the same time.

We had a great holiday season. It was great to have some time off work so we could see a lot of family and friends!
