Venice

Then we were off to Venice. We took a late night train and got in around midnight. Lucky, Whit had a friend that could come and pick us up. She is there for the military and lives about an hour outside Venice. We were just happy to see them. We needed some sleep and a nice clean shower after sweating all day in Rome. We had a relaxing night just sitting and talking and tried to get some sleep before the morning came.
We took a train into Venice and started seeing all the sights. We had a lot of see and only a day to do it. I had heard so much about Venice and wanted to see what it was actually like. Who can believe that there is a city that is under water that has no roads so they use boats for transportation? I now believe that it is true.
This is the Bridge of Sighs. It is the last daylight that the prisoners
would see before going to the dudgeon.
Doge's Palace
We took a taxi, once again it was a boat, to a different island so
that we could see the glass blowing.

Pulling into the island called Murano.  This is where we said goodbye to Whitney.
It was so much fun to have her with us.

Murano Glass Blowing. We head that it was really cool before we left
and kept looking until we found it. It was in the back of an alley way and
we just happened to walk up the right street.

Bridge of Sighs from the inside.

I heard that there are only four of these that exist in the world. It is a bridge
that has stores on each side. That is my kind of shopping!

This is what it looked like from on top.

  1. I want to visit here! I cannot grasp the idea that there is a city on the water and they have no cars...I need to see it in person!
