Salzburg

This was in my opinion the prettiest city of the trip. There is only 100,00 people that live here. We checked into our hostel, sat down our bags, and headed for the city to get some lunch. Then it was on to see the sights.
Mirabell Gardens. This is where they filmed the Sound of Music. Then above
that you can see the Salzburg Fortress.

The fortress was right along the road, there was even a bridge
that had to go through it because they wanted to keep it there.
There are so many church all within one little area.

Salzburg Fortress. We went on an audio tour to find out the
history behind the building and what it was used for. It has never been
invaded before. There is no way you can sneak up on this place.

We were about an hour late to meet up with Spencer's old comp., Joshua Brunner. He took us to his small town called Seekirchen that was just outside of Salzburg. They live just five minutes from a beautiful lake. We went on a bike ride to the lake and then to dinner at a local Italian restaurant.  It was fun to see him and catch up on what he has been doing since the mission.

The worst thing about Salzburg was for sure the hostel that we stayed at.
It was super dirty and we had a naked girl that was there sleeping every time we went
into the room. I don't know why European don't like clothes. So crazy!
We decided this should say hard to find and easy to leave. haha
The next day we went on a Sound of Music tour to see all the different places that they filmed the movie. The first one was the river where they ride in the canoe and all fall out. It shows the back of the house, but they never actually went inside. They used a different location to film all of the inside scenes.
The gazebo that where they sing the song I am sixteen going on seventeen..... They have to keep it locked because people were getting hurt trying to dance around it. Especially the old ladies because one even broke her hip. Besides that they have to keep it at a different location because people were trying to swim across the water to take pictures by it or even try and steal it.
Our sweet bus, best part was the air conditioning.
These are the trees where the kids play in the clothes made from the drapes when the dad drives by and doesn't notice that they are his kids. This is the house that they use to film some of the inside scenes and the ones where it shows the front of the house.
This is where they show the family walking over the hills. Interesting fact, in real life they actually got on a train to leave the country. This is just how they decided to film it in the movie and paid them lots of money to be quiet.
This is the church where they show them getting married in the film. So pretty inside and out. It is located in a small little town about an hour from Salzburg.

Spencer loves his water. We had to take at least one picture
of him filling up the water bottle.
World famous restaurant for their apple strudel with vanilla sauce located across the street from the church.
The kids dance around this fountain and all the following pictures when they are singing doe ray me. It is located in Mirabell gardens. It was fun to go home and watch the movie and actually think about the fact that I had walked in those same places. It is a movie that Americans will never forget.
