When do we get to sleep?

As most of you know the weekend is my time to sleep, but not this weekend. We had a lot of fun doing service and hanging out with family. Spencer's grandpa went to the hospital on Wednesday because he couldn't breathe. We didn't think that they would check him straight in because it was so serious. He had blood in his lungs that was preventing him from breathing well. The problem started at his heart where there were five arteries that were working at 20 percent or less. They told him that they were going to do open heart surgery on Monday, but he would have to stay at the hospital until then because he was at such a high risk for a heart attack. This just gave him more time to think about it. We all had a fun time laughing at his jokes, it turns out that he can be really funny when he is on a lot of drugs. The best part was when they told the family that he is going to have more energy now. Everyone looked at  each other and said NO! He already has enough to drive grandma crazy. I am sure the nurses and doctor were like what is wrong with this family. We are happy that he will be healthier though. We did a family fast on Sunday for him and all came together at the hospital to give him a blessing. Everything went well with the surgery, he is now recovering and will be for the next few months. Debbie, Spencer's mom, also got surgery on her nose on Monday. It has been crazy trying to visit everyone and have time for our normal lives. We are glad that everyone is healthy and doing good.

On Friday night we met Heidi at Crown Burger before the Blaze game to get a quick bite to eat. Plus, it gave us a place to park since everything was closed downtown for the Salt Lake Marathon the next day. The Blaze won this time! It was such a good game with the score going back and forth a lot.

Then the next day we woke up at 4:30am to go and help with the Marathon. Planet Fitness signed up to do a water station. They needed 20 volunteers so we all came and helped out. Spencer was not very awake and it is the first time I have ever seen him up at this time and it will probably be the last. He was not too happy. The only incentive that he had was his Dr. Pepper that Tanya had promised him. We had a good time though. Those runners are crazy! They would zoom by spilling half of the water in the cup and then throw their cups by the garbage cans, missing most of the time. haha. It made me want to run a half marathon someday. As long as I had a running buddy I think I would be able to do it.

Then we went home and took a short nap that was much needed. We planned on going on a hike up Big Cottonwood Canyon, but there was still a little too much snow when we got up there. We enjoyed the ride and plan on doing it a little later in the year. We stopped and look a picture along the road and I was a little more excited than everyone else. I made them take a second picture and show more excitment. Thanks for coming to Salt Lake guys! We had a lot of fun.

  1. I want to run a half-marathon too, I wish we lived in the same state so we could do it together...
